1950s bowling shirt

Added Dec 19, 2013

London, United K...

Not technically a bowling shirt but by the time I’d hand-embroidered the monogram and added some piping to the yoke, it was as good as! I made this for one of my favourite sewing challenges yet. A wonderful meet up of the ‘Spoolettes’ at the Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes in London.
Everyone looked so fabulous.
The pattern came together quite quickly. I did an FBA, and added a little to the waist but that’s all.
More deets over at the usual place

Material Notes

red cotton fabric, black piping, black embroidery thread, red sewing thread, 3 vintage buttons.

I don’t think I have had time to comment on your blog about this shirt but you look fabulous in it. I love the monogram that really makes this shirt very special.

Looks great. I had to laugh: a beautiful 50’s bowling shirt while texting on a cell phone. :-)

I LOVE this shirt. Have been meaning to try something similar with a monogram for a while but haven’t got round to it. Did it take a long time and had you done one before? Anyway, looks great! Em

Thanks so much! It did take a while. Have never done one before. But it was really enjoyable. Defo recommend it as a theraputic exercise!
