1945 Pinstriped Shirt Dress

Added Nov 25, 2015

St. Louis, Misso...

This dress is made from an un-printed Simplicity #1526 (year 1945) with some soft but crisp cotton shirting fabric. It is a baby blue color with white thin double pinstripes. My inspiration was to make a dress close to one from the television series “Agent Carter”. I had fun making all the fine details to this dress – gathered dart seams on the chest, bound “windowpane” button holes, front skirt box pleats, pointed cuffs, and the chevroned stripes at the shoulder yoke. Thanks! The best part is the comfort of this dress. Glad you like the 40s too…for me, the fashions are additive.

Thank you! Have you heard there’s an Agent Carter Season 2 coming out Jan 5 (U.s.)? Btw, those unprinted patterns are actually very easy. My favorite part is the punched out dots for marking – you don’t have to roll over or touch the pattern at all…it’s just like filling in the dots!

Thanks I’ve never heard of that show but googled it thanks to you – hope it comes to Aus. (Might have to buy it from amazon). There is Aussie tv show called A place to call home. It features 50s fashions and drama in a stately mansion.(amazon have it too)
