Did not know about that, but I need to shed a few pounds, exercise for about a zillion hours, eat 90% less delicious foods and go back about 20 years in time to enter any model contests! Thanks for the really nice thoughts and considerations though :)

The Red Crepe de Chine blouse you made, at Ode to Sew, really looks great. Do you think you will post an article on sewing with silk? I mostly do knits now but I would be interested in tips on working with silk.

That is a great idea! I should do a sewing tutorial or two on my blog. Sewing with silk can be tricky and takes patience, but is so rewarding!

“Here are some images I gathered of comparable silk tanks going for at least $138 at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus….”

I looked at your Ode to Sew website, and when I read that, it confirmed I made the right decision to learn sewing. Women shopping for clothes in those stores might as well put a “Kick Me” sign on their backs. Nordstrom had a dress similar to this one, which I made for a freind, for $455.00:

That is outrageously expensive for mass produced stuff. Nowadays it’s the home sewers who make handsome and quality clothing. Store boughten clothes, with only a few exceptions, are drab and poorly made.

Hi there! Thanks for checking out my blog! I totally agree. That is why I learned to sew too as I love clothes and always want more, and sewing my own was the only way to afford what I want and how I want, plus gives me the freedom to be creative and have it “my way”. Great job on the dress!
