    Hi there,

I would love to participate in your WA burdastyle club, if it is currently active! I’m a beginner, but would love to sew with others, and get to know some avid sewers here in Perth :D Please feel free to email me eloise [dot] y [dot] chen [at] gmail [dot] com, thanks and looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi there, I am not here often, but will try to improve my record! I have been sewing since I was 12, and recently realised that’s now most of my life. By a lot. I’ve made everything from couture wedding dresses (a hand stitched replica of an antique teagown from 1908) to a cover for a didgeridoo. That one took me by surprise. It was quite easy, but seeing as a didgeridoo is just a hollow log, I didn’t realise it was necessary to even have a cover. Turns out it’s about preserving the paintwork.

I have worked as a designer, patternmaker and production manager in the fashion industry, but I now teach what I know to home sewers and fashion design students. Much happier. The best jobs in the world are the ones where you help people have fun!

I’ve always used Burda patterns more than any other, but the back and forth between designers and makers that BurdaStyle encourages gives them even more edginess. I always found commercial patterns pretty tame, and wished there were more patterns that looked like the designer clothes I coveted.

I’d love to start a BurdaStyle sewing club in Western Australia, but if anyone comes here enquiring about it, please don’t get put off if I don’t answer straight away. I can be contacted more easily via my business Sewanista Fashion Workshops
