I saw you as a featured member here on Burdastyle. I love your projects! I also love vintage and vintage inspired sewing projects. My problem is that here in Sweden it is impossible to find vintage patterns/sewing magazines (or anything vintage actually…). I am going to Sydney this spring. Can you please give some tips on where in Sydney I can find vintage patterns/magazines and vintage clothes? If you would like to give me a tip on a good fabric store in Sydney it would also be lovely :).

    Have a nice day!

Hi! Thank you so much for your post! I find most of my sewing patterns in thrift stores or on ebay. My favourite thrift store is Vinnies (www.vinnies.org.au you can locate stores close to where you are staying on their site) although they can often be hit and miss and alot of the time their stores just sell homewares and junk. In Sydney, I would definately go to Crown St, Surry Hills. There are lots of excellent vintage clothing stores there! Also in Surry Hills, not to far away, is the fabric store (thefabricstore.com.au) and they have a wonderful selection of fabrics! Also King St in Newtown has alot of vintage stores but it is also just a fun place to go! If you’re going to be around in April then you should definately check out The Vintage Show (http://www.lovevintage.com.au/) which tops all the other places I’ve mentioned here, they have tonnes of stalls selling clothes, patterns, fabrics, everything vintage! It’s great! Also, just out of Sydney, places like Mittagong and the Blue Mountains (definately worth a visit for the landmarks anyway) also have some awesome antiques/collectables/rare-book stores that sell vintage clothes/patterns/magazines!
      I hope this helps!
      Have a lovely trip!!

I was wondering when you’d get featured!

I love your designs (especially the navy blue sailor-like dress, i think you’re sitting on your front porch steps in the photo) and it’s inspiring to see a fellow Aussie on here

Keep up the good work missymellie – if you ever start up a blog, post the link on here cause it would be great to follow you!

Thank you so much for your message! Your website is looking great, it sounds like an amazing project! I would love to make pieces to sell and would definately consider it as an option once I graduate at the end of the year and have more time.
