Hello! I’m a Burda Style Video subscriber. You guys do such an awesome job with them, I just had to ask if it was possible to request a specific pattern be turned into a video tutorial. The Criss Cross V Neck Dress 03/2014 #117 is really tough. I’ve half way figured out how to attach the bodice pieces together, but I’m finding there are areas that the instructions don’t address, and there are little unfinished gaps that aren’t closed. Additionally, finishing the seam allowances on the inside is quite confusing, especially around the darts/skirt attachment seam. I like my garments to look professionally finished, and one of your breakdowns sure could help me achieve that! I hope you’ll consider doing this one, and possibly more in the near future. Thanks so much!

    Sincerely, Kirstin

      Hi Kirstin!

I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying our BurdaStyle video site! I will send your request along to the team who does the video planning. I definitely know how some details can be quite tricky to work through on your own.

      Have a fantastic day!

Hello, I really love the patterns that Burdastyle magazine and digital have to offer. The only thing that stops me from buying more patterns is that the directions are very vague. Even with the beginner patterns. I also purchased a blouse pattern #135. I can’t figure out how to sew the underarm/princess side seams? I looked everywhere for a tutorial. I really love your patterns, but assembly pictures would help in all patterns. Thank you :)

      Hi Jaclyn!

I do know that sometimes the instructions can be a bit challenging. Are you sewing the underarm and side seams as one continuous seam? That sounds like it might be what you’re looking for. In that case, flip everything inside-out, and sew one long seam starting at the arm opening, pivoting at the seam where the sleeve meets the bodice, and continuing down the bodice side seams to the top hem.

      I hope that helps!

Hi Denise! First off, I wanted to say that the list dept was very helpful when I contacted them to change my mailing address for my BurdaStyle magazine subscription. They even mailed another copy since I didn’t change my address in time. So, thanks!

Second, I was trying to find a digital pattern from the summer 2014 issue on the website, and noticed the numbers didn’t match. I ended up searching by clothing type (shorts) to find them. It might be helpful to print QR codes in the magazine by the digital patterns that take you directly to the pattern website after scanning with your phone. Would save a lot of hassle! Also, having a discount for digital patterns for subscribers would be a nice perk.

Lastly I really enjoy the “inspired from the runway” section. I’d love to see that expanded, and development of more patterns or pattern modifications inspired by current trends.

    Thanks! Kate

How do you all compensate for the missing patterns and pattern pieces from the Winter 2014 edition?

For 118B there is NO pattern piece “1”. Also, the plus-size skirt pattern is NOT in the magazine. Will these be available for download since they are missing?

      Hi there,

Sometimes they are a little tricky to find, but all pattern pieces are on the insert sheets. I’ll contact you directly and help you figure this out!

Hi! I bought the digital edition of the Spring 2014 Burda Style magazine, but now when I go to download the downloadable patterns – for example the 117 dress – I get asked to pay for it. How do I avoid this? Thanks, Dual45

Hi Dual45, the downloadable patterns are to be paid for (whether you have the digital issue or the hard copy). Unfortunately this is something that can’t be avoided. Let me know if you have any other questions!

RE: "There is an error on page 111 of the Winter 2014 issue of BurdaStyle magazine. The pieces for skirt 145-102013-US should have been numbered as pieces 26-31 (instead of 21-26). "

It would be nice if this were emailed to the subscribers. It would be helpful and should be easy for you guys to accomplish.

Hi Dual45! Sorry for missing this! I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying the magazine and all of the different styles.

I’m glad you reached out. We actually found an issue with pattern 145, but we have a resolution.

There is an error on page 111 of the Winter 2014 issue of BurdaStyle magazine. The pieces for skirt 145-102013-US should have been numbered as pieces 26-31 (instead of 21-26). I can email you an updated page 111 featuring the proper pattern piece numbers.

There’s also one error relating to this pattern on the insert sheet.

Will you send me your email address so that I can email you the proper updated files?

Thank you for your continued support of BurdaStyle!

    Hi Denise,

I am very interested in the project editor position for BurdaStyle. I currently live in New York, with a 30 minute train ride to Midtown Manhattan ( garment district). I also have a youtube channel displaying my work on sewing and pattern making http://www.youtube.com/user/sweetmaterial. I interned at Vera Wang for about a year and also worked in the handbag/accessories sector as an associate planner. I will submit my application for consideration.

    Best Regards, Felicia
