Your stuff is really great! Nice to see another sew/knit person on Burda. I love the jumper you made for your dad. Would it be possible to get the cable stitch pattern? I love the cabling/moss stitch combo.

Aha, cool, leaves you loads of time for handicraft, eh :-)! Sounds great, I have to try to find the time in the evenings and weekends, wish I had more time… Oh, all the food you mentioned is just great! I’d love to return to Korea some time… Right now, I’m working on a Kasia, but only the buttons & lining to go, which I hate making, so loads of things got in the way… next a masquerade-party-costume I think :-). Hope your jeans & dress are getting along well! Oh, I did teach a little English in Japan, and Swedish, but mainly I worked in a bar (I was on a break from studies), and spent the days just exploring japanese culture… great!

Hey Iwona, You’re welcome! Oh, my sewing mojo is back on track! I’ve been sewing some pretty stuff these days, but haven’t posted their pictures yet. I made a blazer, a skirt for my mom and one for myself. Also, I’m preparing a skirt pattern to post it on the site along with detailed instructions. It takes a LOT of time to prepare the pattern for print. Besides that, I have tons of ideas for sewing on my mind. I can tell that lots of plaid will be used in my future projects :). Keep well, Ana

Thanks :-)! I didn’t use any reinforcement for my top, I made it tight enough to stay put without any (and I DO wear a bra underneath). Do you live in Korea? Went to Seoul 10 yrs ago to get a new visa for Japan, loved the Korean tea… Job’s tears… and chicken with garlick and ginseng, yum!

Hey Polish girl! Welcome back to the site. I am confused about your home – are you back home to Poland, or you’re back from holidays to your home in Korea? :) Did you have any progress on your coat? I haven’t sewn anything for weeks. I think I lost my mojo. I keep staring at my fabrics trying to decide what to make out of them, but I just don’t have a clue. If I have the right fabric, than I don’t have the right pattern and vice versa. Oh well, it happened to me before, I’ll get my mojo back soon. Ana

Hi Iwona! Welcome back :) I’m fine, thanks. Maybe a bit annoyed by cold weather…

Regarding your coat’s collar – I think you should use some kind of firm interfacing. I’m not an expert on this issue, maybe this post can help. If not, try browsing through sewing blogs, you can find a lot of useful information. Let me know if you need more hints on sewing blogs – I am following few of them regularly. And, you can post a new topic on this site, members are very kind and if someone has a good idea, he/she’ll answer you.

Well, believe you or not, I have few store bought garments :). I prefer sewing, but when I find a garment that’s cheap or that I like a lot, I don’t hesitate form buying it.

I was curious – where do you come from? I suppose you’re not originally from Korea?

Good luck with your collar! Ana

hey how are you?! my brother sewing machine is the lowest of the range but it’s ok. it just doesn’t have much power and if you like sewing thick material it really needs the power so i might one day get a stronger one – if i get rich!! :)

Salut Iwona! Le patron de ma robe est un patron Burda acheté en mercerie, il ne vient pas d’un magazine. Il est vraiment très facile à réaliser, et le résultat est plutôt sympa! :)

Hey Iwona, My fingers are much better, thanks. Actually, they recovered completely. I started sewing again, but haven’t finished my project – a pair of pants. Hopefully, I’ll finish them in next few days. And I have so many ideas for sewing – a jacket to pair it with new pants, few shirts, few dresses, another pair of pants and a vest, … I don’t know how I’ll find the time for sewing them all :) Ana

Yes, I can tell that i “passed” :)))))) It was hard for me, I like everything to be perfect fitted and exactly sewed by lines, so I was little bit nervous but result is very nice for me! I like your velvet dress and Charlie bag 2 double faced! That fabrics are adorable! Great work!

Hey Iwona, How are you? Did you make any progress on your coat? Improved your drafting skills? I’ve got so many comments from others regarding my fast and productive work. Sometimes I feel like I’m repeating the same words to all of them – “that creation was made few years ago” :) The funny thing is that actually I made a blouse this Friday, but haven’t posted it yet, while my old creations are currently in focus. I will have to make a brief pause to sewing, since I hurt my fingers this weekend. I was repairing some dress for my friend, and I had to rip off so many stitches. At some point the thread started cutting my fingers – AUCH! That was painful :-[. Luckily, I managed to fix the dress and my friend left home happy :). Ana

Sandra

:) I love my animals too! I haven’t tried Butterick yet, but so far the Simplicity one I’m using is fabulous! The instructions are very detailed, and my favorite part is that it gave me the ease measurements which I have not seen before on a pattern (maybe that’s just my lack of experience), so that I could adjust it to my liking right off the bat! I will let you know once I make my next one which will be Butterick. I already know that I will have to make alterations right off the bat because it’s not the exact style I was looking for… we will see. Happy Sewing! Oh yes, and enjoy the traveling while you can :) I’m jealous because I would love to be able to travel and live in other parts of the world!

Hey Iwona, Thanks for the blog link. I like to peer into others creations. During the past few months I discovered so many sewing-related blogs, it was a true revelation to me :). Oh, Japanese pattern book! A true treasure :). I saw on the Internet two very interesting Japanese books about drafting very avantgard garments. They’re called Pattern Magic (vol 1 and vol 2). I managed to find few scanned pages of the books and was fascinated with what I saw there. Ever since I’ve been dreaming of those books. Unfortunately, they can be bought only on-line, but the shipping costs are enormous :(. So, I’ll have to visit Japan :D. Looking forward to see your raglan sleeves blouse! Ana

Haha, Superwoman? :) I’m flattered. You know, most of the stuff I posted here was made during the past two or more years. I’m not sewing a garment a day… But, I do sew a LOT. I still don’t have a clear image on what to do next. I’m waiting for some inspiration. But, I think it’ll be another jacket/blazer. Ana

Hey Iwona! As you saw, I made that muslin. In fact, you’re to blame for that – after chat with you, I was inspired to start working on the jacket :). By the way, thanks for your comment! I never made a real coat. The thing is that I’m not so familiar with the right types of interfacing needed for coats. Some of the jackets I made turned out a bit unprofessionally made just because of inappropriate usage of interfacing. And I hate that. I don’t think of myself as of a skilled sewer, I still have a lot to learn. I did make few patterns on my own, but they were for skirts and dresses, never for some serious garments. And I think that even pants are the big thing! So, I stick to Burda pretty much. But, like you, I would like to learn pattern drafting. In the meanwhile, I make alterations on existing patterns in order to adjust them to my ideas. I noticed that I have increased my sewing and drafting skills a lot since I’ve joined this site! Other members are so kind to share their tips and tutorials with us, and I keep absorbing them like a sponge :). How’s your skirt going? And the other projects? Ana
