    Hello Julia,

I really liked your article “THE KNITTED SWEATER CAPE”. One thing I enjoyed was your creativity. I was impressed.

I would really appreciate the opportunity to provide a guest post that would bring value to you and your audience. If you’re interested I’d be happy to provide a few topics I had in mind.

    Thanks, Susan

    Hi Julia,

Could I ask if you could do a review of my seam allowance guide on your blog? It would be very much appreciated. I could give you 3 as a give away (happy to post them from my end too if you like. (As long as you mention the giveaway 3 days after the review).

Let me know if you can do. Thanks heaps.

I need to make a top for singles party on Friday but my son is home most of the day for the next 2 weeks. Sucks! Future advice now you are happily married. -kids REALLY get in the way of sewing. Hollie

      Hi Hollie,

I am happy to mention your seam allowance guide as it’s a great product! Next time I make a pattern where I need to add seam allowances I’ll include your product in the post. At the moment I’ve only done posts for a new dress or a tutorial.

Hope you made the dress in time for the party on Friday.

      Thanks heaps Julia,

I wore the last dress i posted on Burdastyle. I have a night out on Teusday and am making one for that. Tried a Neue Mode pattern but it didn’t suit my shape. Making an altrernate version of the dress I just wore. Tessuti tomorrow!

I really ought to congratulate BurdaStyle for having the pleasure of having you as a member in the first place, but it’s probably more conventional to congratulate you on being drumroll Featured Member!!

One of my targets for 2012 is to spent more time making clothes and that wish is largely inspired by people like you. I think you are downright fantastic and I wish nothing but the best for you and your husband in the new year.

Please accept my most sincere gratitude for the enormous amount of inspiration and energy you provide through your work.

    Love, Joost

Congratulations Julia! I have been silently lurking around these pages for some time now (following you and a couple of other Burda Stylers), but never have I felt more compelled to make an online comment than right now!! Your entry in the Tessuti awards is gob-smackingly amazing, THAT dress has left me hand-to-mouth, lost for words! Such a well deserved winner, enjoy your trip! Michelle xo

    Miss Bobbin,

The proposal to UrbanDon snagged my attention, then I visit your page and see you create beauty and mayhem as a lifestyle.

Your wool/cashmere cape is the case in point, and object lesson, all in one. The whimsy of the lining, those buttons, and the shape of the cape, all enchant those in tune with style. Making it yellow was daring, yet deft – sheer brilliance!

Count me as yet another “man fan”,

Hi Julia, Love your silk Vogue dress. I noticed a couple of your rolled edges fell off on the hem. I had tis problem and kept hacking away at the fabric. I couldn’t get them to stay on! Until…. Get yourself a roll of Sulky Solvy stabilizer. I think mine is about 10m long, I know I’ll eventually use it. Just cut off strips and place it under the chiffon. Make your hem then tear it off. Works beautifully on all soft fabrics. I use it on my linings too. I also just discovered Perfect Sew which is a liquid you put on your fabric and it makes Chiffon feel like well behaved organza and it makes the whole cutting and sewing process super easy. I can now use up my whole stash of georgette and chiffon. You just wash it out in water afterwards.

And the final tip, when you use differential feed, dont use the biggest I hope thats useful :) Hollie

Hollie you’re a legend! Thank you for taking the time to give me some very valuable advice, I will definitely be trying those things out! I made this dress when I had just bought my new overlocker and you wouldn’t believe how frustrated I was with the rolled hem. (user problems, not the machine) In fact I haven’t tried it since then. I think I’m ready
to give it a go again. Thanks again for the great
Oh and by the way your seam allowance magnets have been a dream come true! They’ve made life a lot easier.

That’s fantastic! I’m glad they helped.
I use mine all the time now.
I noticed you get most your fabrics from tessuti. I do too, I live about 200m from the Chatswood one. Dangerous!
I will have about 5 projects to post in a couple of weeks, my ex and his camera live in Perth. Doh!
