Thank you for your kind greetings! How’s the England’s summer this year? I hope you are doing well and having fun. I am wishing I can visit your country soon, as I miss the Kew so much and also I have left my bank account there for so long… I need to BE THERE to close my account! (it takes me much more than I have in the account! How silly it is…) If it really happens, I hope I can see you for a tea!

I just wanted to let you know that seeing your beautiful creations has reminded me that homemade can and should equate to beautiful, unique and handcrafted (something I all to often forget in my rush to finish things!)… and thank you also for leaving such a lovely comment about my dress. x

I wish good luck!!! – “the karencilla bag pattern” well that sounds inspiring. hahaha though i’m not so into doing bags… not my thing I guess… – I’m almost an architect, I’m in my last semester and planning my thesis or final project. take care helene!

Oh Helene, be careful with our old friend alcohol! hahaha it makes, sometimes, our best kept ideas free! hahaha just kidding. Well my friend, I decided to look both brands at the stores, write notes about them and then sit and do a comparison…. Don’t worry the entity has left my halter top!!! I’m finishing it…. Spanish? hum I didn’t know you write in spanish… haha. keep in touch.

Hi Helene, it’s not stupid at all what you suggest, the thing is, that the machine is starting to give me some trouble besides I can´t find anywhere the special zipper foot. (I have to sew zippers by hand!). About the bag I understand what you say, but it is a beautiful bag though is not totally a replica. Do it myself? no way i don’t work with those materials… talking about other things… the halter top is giving me some headache hahaha.

Thanks Helene for your advice, I really appreciate it. I have a singer too, it´s almost 25 years old, and works very good. The issue is that I heard from my sewing ex teacher that she has heard that new singers are not so good as they were before… there is my doubt. My mom says that she prefers Singer, she has always work with it… yes I have heard about Pfaff, but the problem is that here in Panama most of the stores bring only Singer and Brother, too sad =( … I can’t believe that I might be the only young panamanian that actually is an active member here!!! (there are three panamanians, btw one of them is my cousin! what a small world)… Thanks for “wardrobe iconoclast”!!!.. btw I bought a nice handbag… it’s sort of an imitation a classic Chanel quilted handbag… I know… it’s not the original but i love it and besides I don’t have $ 1000 for an original! what you think?

Dear Helene! I’m glad you are doing good. I checked the celebrities you wrote, I know Tilda Swinton, very talented! didn’t know the other two, though I searched them at google. They all have a unique style, the first two are a mix of grunge & chic, unconscious dressing & edgy. Great choices!! Thanks for liking my last creations…. I can tell you a bit about my next project: another men shirt, but i´m planning a halter top or dress… i’ll see… btw I have a question, SINGER or Brother? which one is better? or what have your heard about them? I’m drown in doubt of which one to buy.

Helene, Sorry I have had such a crazy week. My week was capped off last night with a terrible storm here and my dear neighbour (He is actually the tiny man to the right in the photo. He was at my wedding.) He lost his home last night to a large tree. The tree fell on to his home and sliced it in half. Totally tragic. We managed to get his dog out who was hiding in the bathtub. I am still in shock.

I would love to exchange email’s with you to write.

Hand processing films sounds great! We once did it in school (but just photo-films, 16mm is for motion-film, isn’t it?). But I don’t want to distract you, so get busy! ;)

Hellodiho! Thanks for your very nice comment on my dress! Ah, I think I know what you mean ;) Is that kind of procrastination-thing? Because that’s my problem, I don’t really work hard until I get some serious time pressure ;) So be a good girl and don’t disregard your thesis ;)

Well, keeping away from Burdastyle is a really hard plan ;) But I guess you’ve got a lot to do. What about your phd? I have very generous holidays, studies start in octobre again, so a LOT of time to sew!

Helene don’t worry, I’ll keep you updated with Hollywood Actresses’ trends! haha. That’s one of the major reasons why I like to be updated about actresses.. the trends. I forgot to thank you for your advice about the tunic dress… It is not a problem, it’s just that i got lazy in finishing it… hahaha.

Sorry it took so long. I have a deadline. I do any kind of architecture that makes money! I would love to concentrate on sustainable re-use and hopefully will be converting our tiny house to reflect our ambitions. (my husband is a contractor/carpenter- total old school carpenter) That is amazing where you work! and that you are at the royal college of art. Are you doing a masters thesis? I am actually doing one also right now in architecture. Your so lucky to be in London. I am dying to visit. I have a lot of friends from school living there and working. Such a great place to live and to travel from (everywhere in europe is so close.) The only draw back I imagine is the cost of living, taxes, etc…. I am originally from toronto, canada and we know a thing or two about taxes! Your living arrangement is fantastic. I know about the dutch system, but I never knew that it was organized by a third party, I thought it was pretty much a squatter system. Living in a school is fantastic. I loved my old school which had wood floors etc…the smell of paper! Lady, it will be years before I make my own patterns. What programs are you talking about? CAD? Gosh I wish you were around the corner to go for a coffee! I must work. :-)

Thank you thank you about the pic. Believe it or not it was actually at my wedding! (I am wearing a semi-white dress under there) but the tempy dropped and I borrowed a shawl from a friend. I should take a pic but I have been lazy about photographs as of late and I am a little shamed about my attempts at sewing so I have yet to post my first attempts!!!!!

My background is and I work in architecture and I swear your designs are just like a well-crafted building, the beauty is in the details.

Honestly. I can’t wait to learn to sew so I can make those beautiful tucks and lines seam effortless, fluid. I love your work. (I love joseph b. also ;-)) He’s one of my favourite’s.

    Your sweaters are sublime also.

You should start your own pattern line- I think you would do so well.

Are you an artist full time now? or a teacher? (your pic) That building is beautiful in your pic!
