I guess I should have read the reviews before purchasing the patterns. I have the same questions – why are there so many pattern pieces that are not apparently required for this dress. Really confusing. spent so much time assembling them only to find half of them were not even required!

As a small-busted woman, I am finding that my muslin toile needs an extra dart in the sides at the bust, otherwise the above-bust/ next to shoulder area is too poufy. Will this affect the way the sleeves fit?

I agree. Cut my usual size but the area you mention looks really unfit. I need to redo the bodice with more adjustment. Still working on it now. Irs really annoying. Look like in I am not the only who have this problem.

What you need to do is deep the dart that you already have and shape the side of the pattern with a curve ruler.
In my experience none of the Burda patterns fits really well,it’s like a basic block you have to work around.
I think my tips will help :)
