Description

Women’s retro blouse sewing pattern available for download. Available in various sizes and is produced by BurdaStyle Magazine.

The wide and flattering rounded neckline, sweet mini pleats and buttons are the same as the original blouse. The restyle is the choice of a fine silk fabric that nudges the look towards elegance, yet lets the 50s charm remain.

I agree with redbobbin that ravelly fabric should be avoided. This pattern looked so cute on the site, but in making it, I felt there were issues with it’s engineering. The construction wasn’t traditional and didn’t seem well thought out and the instructions did not provide adequate construction explanations. Turning under the layers at the sleeve edges was difficult to do nicely working with the two layers cut on the bias. The little pieces under the arms were also hard to do nicely. The under arm pieces and the front yoke construction seemed to create weak points as well.

For me this needed an inch off the front shoulders to get it to hang properly. Do not attempt this with ravelly fabric. Some of the seam allowances at the corners are down to nothing. Only a few pieces but surprisingly challenging.
