Would this be a good pattern for a beginner sewer?

I think it would be a perfect beginners project. Just not and absolute beginner. Pick a stretch woven fabric for easy fitting – like the recommended cotton sateen.

You just may need help with the zipper if you havent done one before!

I think so. It relatively easy to sew. Depending how much experience you have, you might be a little challenged by the invisible zipper, but I think the rest is rather doable. Good luck !

This skirt, in #that@ teal color, is what I want to wear. But can a pencil skirt be worn with flats? I ask because I cannot safely wear heels at this point in my life. Pencil skirt + flats = dorky?

No, not dorky at all. Try flats with a patent finish if you want them to be a little more dressy. Also, try wedges or pumps with thick heels. I couldn’t last a work day in heels!
