  • How is a Member Project defined on BurdaStyle?

    The purpose of our Projects section is for community members to showcase their creativity, garner feedback and provide inspiration. At their core, member projects are a form of storytelling between the creator and their audience, inspiring interaction between the two.

    Members who upload projects should have had design input, as well as be strongly involved in the handmade production process of the project posted. This means that the member has helped to design and hand-create all or parts of the creation uploaded. They know their creation; not just its exterior, but the unique, unseen intricacies that make it so special.

    We are a community that emphasizes the handmade journey of sewing.

    The project description, credits or comments provides a way for members to share this journey with each other. This helps to foster the meaningful interaction seen throughout our community.

  • How do I make a project?

    You must be a BurdaStyle member to upload a project. Once you log in to your account, click on your BurdaStyle username at the top right corner of the homepage. When you reach your profile, scroll down until you see the “Upload Your Project” button on the bottom left side.

  • I am having difficulty uploading my project. What do I need to do?

    When uploading a project on BurdaStyle, here are a few reminders and tips you should know:

    - All Project images should be at least 475 pixels wide and no greater than 2 megabytes in size. - If you are experiencing difficulty uploading all of your project images, try uploading a few at a time, then refreshing the page before resuming to upload the rest. - When in your BurdaStyle account, click on the “Projects” link to view all of your Published and Saved projects. Not all projects are visible on the initial “My Studio” front page, including saved projects. - If you are unable to save your project due to a “Title Already Taken,” please note that your project has been saved. For all project drafts, go to the last page of your “My Studio” page.

    If you are still experiencing difficulty, please submit your issue to our Community Help Forum. When doing so, including the following information:

    - What internet browser do you use to visit BurdaStyle?
    - What is your computer system (Mac/PC)?
    - What was the proposed title of your project?
    - Were you successful in saving the project, or can you neither publish or save it?
    - What step or edition were you attempting to complete before you received a 500 Error or 404 Error message?

    Once we have the above information, we will attempt to duplicate your issue. If we cannot find a solution, we will report this issue as a “site error” to our Technical Support Team.

  • I have a specific question about a sewing project I am working on. Where can I go for help?

    Our Discussions section is a great place to look for help.

    Our members have a huge collective knowledge of all things sewing-related, and chances are if you have questions or trouble, someone else might too. Search through past forum posts, or post a new one. You may find just the answer you need, and help others in the process.
