I love making clothes, but only know of a handful of places for buying fabric in and around Leeds – I often go to the market (B&M is fab) and Samuel Taylors, but I’d like a bit more t choose from. Does anyone know of any decent fabric shops in the area? Or some good online alternatives?

I am in Leeds too, I mainly find myself drawn to bradford as there are a lot of fabric shops. My particular favourite is Shafson fabric on Leeds road, opposite the Pakeezah supermarket, (which is also well worth a visit!) The outside market in Leeds has an Asian market day on a Wednesday, lots of fabric again! On E bay look for Sidtrim they are based in Leeds and will let you pay/collect from there if you spot something you fancy. Can you get to Dewsbury? Again lots of fabric stalls on the main Wednesday market day, also Fab Works warehouse, a £1 a yard shop and another shop just over the road from the market with lots of £1 fabric. I get about a bit hunting for fabric! Oh and for buttons, zips etc try Bonds of Farsley 2 floors of craziness all at very reasonable prices.

I don’t know the area but would recommend "googling " Asian fabric shops – I did this for Blackburn and I adore the variety of fabrics available >
