Hello :)

I’ve grown really obsessed with this Vivienne Westwood dress http://media.vogue.com/files/filecheck/2012/12/07/tartan-slide-6_130756128777.jpg_gallery_max.jpg and recently I’ve found a matching fabric, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a pattern even remotely similar to this one, or even a set of them, to combine.

I’m a beginner, and I’ll have my mum help me with it, but she also needs a pattern, or an idea, something to start from, so I’d be very grateful if somebody came up with anything to help.

Hi, This was the most basic pattern I could find for it:

or you could use the sloper dress pattern.

Its a very simple design… Basically its just a wrap dress. There is no shaping in at the waist and its slightly aline – so all you have to do is draw a straight line from the armhole to the hem on a bit of an angle so it flares out. Then draw a straight line from the edge of one of the shoulders down, flaring that out at an angle too (when the hem hangs down straight there will be a nice drape to it). Then cut out 2 of those for the front.

    Good luck!!

Oh sorry – they haven’t brought out a sloper for a dress yet

I can’t beleive it, the pattern you recommended was the very first one I used, while learning to sew :) It just didn’t cross my mind it can be used for this one as well. Thank you so much on your reply, you’ve been very helpful :)
