Hi Everyone,
I am having some trouble with the lining on the Sonja dress. The instructions say to sew the lining right side facing to the main bodice pieces, however when i did this i could not then turn the lining inside out as the pattern instructed because it was sewn down at the neck and armhole seams. This means i have the lining sewn onto the bodice pieces right sides together and im unable to turn it inside out!!!! Am i missing the blindingly obvious?
please help!!!
Alice xxxx

I’ve had exactly the same problem! Did you just sew it wrong sides together in the end or have you found another solution? Thanks xxx

Leave the side seams unstitched, but stitch the shoulder seams on both lining and shell fabric. Place lining and shell right sides together. Sew up the back opening and round the neck, and back down the back… Sew the armscyes. Trim and clip the seams and turn them through. You have to pull everything though one shoulder…

Sew the side seams, up the lining and down the shell fabric. Press the seams open and then press the whole thing.

If you are putting a zip in the back, leave the lining unstitched down the back and sew the zip in once the waist is stitched, Sew the lining to the zip tape by hand to finish off.

Oh thank you. It was the pulling everything through the shoulder bit that I hadn’t worked out!

You can’t do that if you sew up the side seams!
