Hi there!

I was wondering if it’s ok to sew woven fabrics with overlock. Will the seam be ok or it would rip of?
Is it better to use 3-or 4-thread seam? Usually I seam with “normal” sewing machine and then finish the seam edge with overlock, but as I have a lot of sewing to do in next week I want to save a bit of time.
Thaks for you answers!

I sew woven fabric a lot with the overlocker. I use a 4 thread seam if it’s going to be a major construction seam or one that undergoes stress. I like to use as wide a cut as the machine will allow on garments that will be washed frequently, like shirts.

Use Universal needles on standard woven fabrics, and wooly nylon in the loopers if you fabric is prone to fraying, as it gives more cover than standard 120’s poly overlocking thread.

The seamk will only pull apart if you have poor quality or very loosely woven fabric.
