Welcome back to sewing! Place pattern on right side. This may help with other small details: http://www.wikihow.com/Sew-Using-Patterns

Where the pattern is cut on folded fabric I was always taught to fold fabric right sides together then place pattern pieces on the outside (ie. the wrong side). When cut on a single layer I generally place the pattern on the right side. I’m sure there are other ways to do it though : ), this is just how I was taught.

I have a question, if the pattern is cut on the fold what difference does it make if you pin to the right or wrong side.. Very new to sewing so I would really like to know :)
