Hello. I am making the one shoulder dress (113) and I understand everything except the part about sewing the shoulder seam and then sewing the seam allowances to the lining. If anyone has made this or understands what they mean, I would love some input!

I think perhaps they mean that on both garments (the outer garment and lining) the shoulder seam needs to be sewn first (the seam that connects the front to the back of the dress along the shoulder).

You then need to go about sewing the lining to the outer garment. This needs to be done around the armhole and around the neck (the seam that goes from one shoulder to the other underarm).

I would suggest the armhole first (can be a bit tight if done last, although manufacturers usually do the neck first then top stitch the lining down to the seam allowance).

Then to do the neck; sew the front up to the shoulder, then the back up to the shoulder (don’t try to keep sewing through the armhole to the other side, cause you’ll struggle through that tiny opening)

    Hope this answers your question
