I’m new here but I’m trying to sew a skirt and I’m already having issues on the first step…
I’ve got the pieces cut but I’m unsure of what to do from there I’ll try to attach an image of the instructions..
Does it mean I have to cut two of the “1” pieces out and see them together?
This is my first sewing project and I’m completely lost…
If somebody could explain it easier I’d be really appreciative thanks!

Yes you need to cut 2 of the number 1 pattern. All you do is fold the fabric in half, lay the pattern on top, and cut it out. If you fold the fabric in half (from selvage to selvage) you will get the fabric facing one way on one of the pieces and the opposite way on the other piece. This will serve as the front and the back.

The number 2 pattern they are referring to is for the lining. Which means that the skirt has 2 layers of fabric to stop it from being see-through.

You don’t actually need the lining sometimes, so don’t worry if you don’t want to put it in.

As you’ve already cut one side for the outside fabric and one side for the inside fabric – see if you’ve cut opposites (one front and back). If you have… lay the pattern 1 on top of the pattern 2 and see if they are the same. If its the same… then your ok not to cut cut out any more pieces!

    Good luck :)
