Hi everyone,

I am hoping to make the sheath dress from the April 2013 issue of Burda. The pattern does not appear to be on here, but it is a strapped corset style bodice, with a fitted, pencil style skirt.

I want to make it for a friend’s wedding in the summer, and am looking for a floral fabric, preferably a white/cream with a red and green floral print – something similar to this picture http://img.rasset.ie/0004b964-180.jpg

The pattern recommends a piqué fabric, but I am open to suggestions, once it has a little stretch.
I have trawled through ebay but to no avail, so am wondering if any of you have seen a similar fabric on your travels, and could point me in the right direction.

I am based in Ireland, so I need a supplier who posts internationally.

All advice greatly appreciated
Thank you :)

There must be a “liberty” print like this I would guess. I’m sure I’ve seen similar on Trurofabrics.com website too. Or is this any use? http://www.cheapfabrics.co.uk/thestore/product_info.php/cPath/94_416/products_id/1162 (I know it’s not the same colours though)

I saw a few Liberty prints but they were all 100% cotton, and I am looking for something with a slight stretch. The colours on this one are nice though, definitely an option if I don’t find something else. Thank you so much :-)

Ah, nice choice! I was thinking jersey fabric may be suitable but it says the fabric needs some ‘body’ to it so prob wouldn’t be suitable. You can find cottons, sateen, wool jersey etc that has body and stretch to it, I haven’t spotted the kind of floral fabric you’re after though. Have you just tried typing red floral fabric in google to see what it brings up?

That’s actually really nice! Thanks for the link Slightly more busy than I had in mind, but think it would be great in that shaped dress. Thank you :)

Take a look at the stretch fabrics over at http://www.alfatex.de/modestoffe/stretchstoffe/#aoff=16&ArticleOrder=0 Some floral fabrics in the selection too. Use Google Translate for the German terms/shipping. Looks like DHL ships to Ireland as Irland shows up on the list.

Thank you so much for that. I will have a good browse through them now. Can see myself making loads of floral variations of that dress :)

Glad to have provided a link that helped! Wish I could shop abundantly on that site and make up my own floral dresses for spring! One day…;)

Hi Neama! Try http://www.fabricgodmother.co.uk/cotton-with-stretch/ They have some lovely stretch cottons. One in particular called red rose that might be what you are looking for. Good luck!
