I watched doctor who “Journey to the centre of the TARDIS” and fell in love with the dress Clara was wearing.
I’m intermediate at sewing, but have never made a pattern, and my question is simply if someone know a similar pattern or are willing to give me some tips on how to make one!

The dress in question:

Thanks for the help!

This dress pattern is a good start. You can turn the darts into tucks if you like using the instructions on this page, and add fullness to the sleeve heads like on this page. The skirt is somewhat similar as it is, but you can add more pleats if you like like on this page. You’ll have to scroll down the pages a bit to find what you need. That collar can be drafted simply like this. I think the dress you like must fasten at the back with a zip because I can’t see any buttons up the front. (You could add those instead if you wanted, but they’d have to extend below the waist for you to get into the dress.)

What a cute dress! I’ve recently started drafting my own clothes and I’ve been using a book called Patternmaking for Fashion Design by Helen Joseph Armstrong. It’s a very pricey book but I was able to use a copy from my local library (until I was given one as a gift). It’s a great resource as it shows you step-by-step how to add each design element to a pattern and some instructions on construction. Could be useful. Good luck!

I had a look online for clips of the episode but what was better was entering “clara’s dress” as part of the search terms. Another DW fan sews and posted on her blog how she used some parts of different Burda patterns along with two other brands to make a similar dress.

The original commercial dress looked like this-it is obvious that the neckline, sleeves and waist were altered for the show version. The show lighting or camera filters seem to darken the dress.http://coolspotters.com/characters/clara-oswald/and/clothing/vaudeville-and-burlesque-short-sleeved-fit-and-flare-dress#medium-3218045

    100% polyester fabric.
