I am having trouble figuring out Steps 6 and 7, regarding how to attach the waistband pieces to my skirt. I am using an overskirt.

When Step 6 says, “Pin the interfaced edge of the waistband to the top edge of the skirt, right sides together,” does this mean that the interfacing is the right side? Or that the fabric (covering the interfacing) is the right side?

The picture does not indicate.

Thank you!

    Hi Rebecca,

the fabric is the right side. Hope that it helps you to finish your skirt!

Really? I just can’t figure out how that will work. If I’m stitching the fabric side of the interfaced waistband to the right side of the skirt, how is my lace-covered waistband going to appear on the outside of the skirt when it’s all done? The interfaced waistband is going to appear, while the lace-waistband will be on the inside against my body. That doesn’t seem right…

But thank you for the response, Juliana!

I’m really confused about this too. It only says to stitch the lace to the non-interfacing waistband, and then later it says fold the non-interfacing waistband toward the inside of the skirt. Is there lace on the outside (interfacing) waistband too? Do I need pattern 7 2x in my base fabric and 2x in my lace (pattern 8 4x in base fabric and 4x in lace)?

Thanks in advance for your help!
