I’m making dress B and I’m fine until I get to the Armholes/Bias Strips step. It says trim allowances at edges of arm holes 3/8". Am I supposed to cut off 3/8" around the armhole? Why didn’t the pattern just come that way?

If I am supposed to cut off 3/8", do I sew the next part (baste bias strips on edges of armholes) 5/8" from the edge of the original cut or from my new cut?

Hmmm those are strange instructions. I would suggest trying the garment on. Ignore the instructions, just do what looks good on you. Finish off the garment as much as possible without doing the armhole then try it on

    Good luck

Sew the Bias tape to the armscye seamline.

Trim the seam allowances to 3/8".

Turn the bias tape to the inside along the seam line: press. Stitch to the lining/inside of the bodice so that ti doesn’t show on the outside.
