I am getting married soon and naturally I am making my dress. I have purchased the Vogue V2965 pattern and love everything except the draped neckline.

My question is how would I go about changing the neckline from draped to a V neck? Also, has anyone else made this pattern? If so what was your experience with it?

I will try to upload photos of the pattern and the neckline I would like to change it to.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, you will need to make a dart somewhere. The usual places for a dart are on the side of the bust or under the bust. You will also only be able to make the V neck to the seam under the bust (unless you want to change the position of the seam to be at the waist). The easiest way I can explain it is to tell you to make a toile, pin the excess fabric from the bust point to the neckline (equally on both busts), then cut the fabric up to the bust point where you want the dart to be, lay it flat on a piece of paper and trace it (while opening up the cut slit you made). Because the excess fabric has been pinned at the neckline, the new dart/cut fabric, will spread and open up. The dart when sewn, should be sewn to finish 15mm away from the bust point (to avoid a pointy bust). The grainline should be changed from being on the bias, to the centre fold of the top pattern.
