I came back to this website after a month of not using it (thank you work) and noticed that there are no free, user-uploaded patterns. All of the ones that I loved before are gone, minus the ones I favorited. What happened? Why has this really valuable and useful resource been taken away? I don’t have $5.00 to spend on a pattern. I’ll just go back to drafting my own when I get the time. Which is never.

Gee, thanks, Burda.

I’ve uploaded a few free patterns, and they are still there through my profile. I think your favourite patterns are probably still there too, but you have to search through whoever uploaded them to reach them. I think this change of the site really sucks, and I understand why so many of the Burdastyle team have left recently. It’s really turning into something completely different than what it used to be! I’m off to check out some other site, I know some of the Burdastyle team have started a new site, more user based. The way I like it.

The user patterns are still there, usually at the end of the categories in the pattern store. I have a different problem. A lot of the patterns I have downloaded can’t be used a second time from my account—I get the message file corrupted and have to download them a second or even third time to reuse them. Does anyone else have this problem? It doesn’t really matter with a free pattern, but what about the others?

Lilyester, I share your disappointment. Removing the option to search for free patterns doesn’t seem very supportive of the spirit of “copyright free” or “sharing community.” I hope the web team will consider this a request to reinstate the ability to search for free patterns; it was a great feature. It’s also one that supports new sewers who aren’t ready to commit to the cost of a purchased pattern.

I knew something was different about the site! Hopefully everything will come together to be an success!
