Last weekend we asked a local fabric shop to open up just for us, they were more than happy to oblige and they even gave us a talk about the fabric industry and which designers they supply.

We had almost 50 people come along so it was worth it from the shops point of view and the purchase queue stretched the length of the shop, you can read about it a bit more on our blog.

So I think this is a great meeting idea, you just have to make friends with a local fabric shop :)

I’m always on the hunt for fabric sites with a variety of knits, different weights, textures, designs, etc. Have any of you found any that are particularly “exciting” and user friendly? I live in Eastern Iowa, USA so would also be interested in brick and mortar shops with a couple hundred mile radius. Thanks in advance for your input!
