I have a OOP pattern. The back bodice has no darts. The skirt is gathered. I want to add a back shoulder and waist dart.

I’ve found no instructions other than this: http://surefitdesigns.blogspot.com/2012/09/adding-shoulder-dart.html?m=1T-Mobile

But for the waist…?

Yes you can add a back shoulder dart by adding however much you want for the dart (say 1cm) to the side of the armhole, then taper it off to the same distance from the shoulder as you want your dart to finish. As for your dart – you can put it anywhere along the shoulder, but preferably in the centre ( minus the seam allowance)

The back darts on the waist are even easier – try it on, then pin where you think the darts would look nice. Take it off, chalk where you’ve put your pins, then lay the back in half and rechalk to make them the same width (just measure the distance between the pins on both darts and devide by two), the same length, and make sure they’re going in the same direction.

If it already fits you snug, then do what you did to the shoulder to the waist – add whatever amount you want in your dart to the side seam at the waist (say 2cm) and taper off to the armhole. Remember there are 2 darts and 2 side seams
