Dust off your guitar and break look through your stash for shades of rust, chocolate, and denim. This collection from the October 2013 issue of Burda Style magazine has folky style. You’ll want a good album on your turntable while you sew.

Get maximum twirlability in this maxi skirt with swirling diagonal panels. It sits at the natural waist for a flattering fit and is a romantic piece for every day. Sandals or flat boots finish the gypsy look.

Vests are a fun and easy way to dress up your look without adding much bulk. The Folk Vest gives retro seventies flair to jeans and a tee, a button up shirt, or a maxi dress.

This is the perfect cozy shirt to wear with jeans when you still want a little style. Mixed prints keep your jeans-and-a-tee look from being boring, and have a bohemian vibe in ditzy florals.

Totally seventies! This essential Chevron Poncho has suede fringed trim for hippie flair. Keep warm by the bonfire and sing some folk songs in this funky winter layer.

A boxy jersey tee is the perfect thing to wear with boots in the fall. This casual style is ideal for football games or evening strolls, and has panels for interest and a cute tomboy edge.

The patterned button up Pocket Blouse is a folky wardrobe staple. You’ll want to wear this with jeans to a music festival, the farmer’s market, everywhere! It also looks cute with cutoff shorts.

Folk and military style combine for this ladylike take on the iconic Sergeant Pepper jackets. This Sergent Jacket has a nipped in waist and lots of places to add cute trim.

The Quilted Vest is a fun first quilting project that makes a great layering piece. Throw this folky jacket over a flowered dress, or add some bohemian style to your jeans and tee look. Use metallic thread for an eye-catching detail!

High-waisted Denim Trousers are key to the seventies look. Grab a thrifted vintage blouse or crochet top and some chunky clogs to let your inner flower child go wild.

Get maximum style in this full length Maxi Coat. This is a statement making piece that will add serious drama to grey winter days! Top off your look with a floppy felt hat and prepare to get noticed.

Finish your tomboy look with slim tweed pants. These pants have a zip fly and front pockets for a timeless basic.

These are comfy pieces for crisp autumn afternoons. What are your favorite fall activities? Strolling through a pumpkin patch? Apple picking? Let us know!

Happy sewing!

The skirt is lovely and I’m not even a fan of maxi-lengths. I also think the boxy jersey tee done in a floaty chiffon, georgette, or even soft poplin or lace would work well.

I like all of this collection – now, if I were only a bit taller and a whole lot younger…

Amazing collection- from fabric choices, how fabric coordinates with all the styles, the model looks the part in every photo, the accessories, even the set location and great photography! Burda this one is great! I have never downloaded a pattern before-looks like this will be my first time because I have to have several of the pieces. Only hope I can find fabrics suitable for these looks!

one question- are these all [etite sized?

      Hi Angie,
Nope, just the ones marked as petite. The rest are straight size. Hope that helps!

Is there a non-petite version of the Sargent Jacket? I’d rather not lengthen everything if I don’t have to.

Sorry, not really a fan of any of these except maybe the coat and jacket. I don’t like the boxy style of these pieces. I want more feminine stuff with soft lines and pleats, tucks, ruffles, etc.

I’m not into the hippy vibe, but these patterns are gorgeous! Hippy looks lovely on other people, but it’s not really my style ;D But both pants patterns are great. The Maxi Coat, Sergeant Jacket, Maxi Skirt are all especially nice. I’m definitely brainstorming other fabrics!

I love that skirt, the one with the swirl! My mom had one like that and I’ve always wanted one. It may be a bit hard for me just in case I’ll wait for someone to sew it first to get some useful feedback.

I like the sergeant jacket, both pants and the maxi skirt (although I will probably shorten it). The only patterns I don’t really care for are the vests…. but hey, that’s just me…
