Sewing Republic and BurdaStyle have teamed up again to bring you a great new challenge. During this month long Apron Remake Challenge, we are inviting you to use your creativity and imagination to reinvent the Two Tone Apron from The Sewing Republic brought to you by BERNINA. You have until 11:59 pm EST March 24th to submit your entries, so check out the rules and get started!

1. Visit The Sewing Republic and download the instructions for the Two Tone Apron

2. Create your own version of the apron: add, change and adjust it to make it your own!

3. You have until March 24th to email a photo to submissions[at]burdastyle[dot]com with “Apron Remake Challenge” in the subject line. You must also include your username, the garment title, and the link to your uploaded project on BurdaStyle in the body of the email.

4. The top 50 entries will be uploaded to a slideshow. Then you, the community, will vote for your favorites.

First Prize – $300 and a BERNINA activa 210 sewing machine!
Second Prize – $200
Third Prize – $100

This contest is open to US residents only (void where prohibited) of any age with consent of a legal guardian. You may submit as many entries as you would like. Employees and family members of BurdaStyle, BERNINA and Sterling-Rice Group are not eligible. Good luck!

Me too!!!, I’m from Spain, and I’m a bit tired of US-only contests… I think this site has members all over the world, that’s the magic internet does, but then you get this, contests and funny things are only for members of one country. I know this is a difficult challenge for the burdastyle team, but I truly believe this can be sorted in some way. What about gift-cheques or any other thing? International sites should be this way in any of their initiatives.

I agree with the rest of the girls. I’m from Israel and I would like to be an equal member on the site. :-(

This is the first contest I have wanted to enter, and had planned on recruiting my young daughter to help me design an apron, but we’re not American. Too bad. Would like to see a contest open to Canadians too.

Unfortunately this contest is open only to US residents. It would be great if the BURDASTYLE team made a series of contests open to every member of the site not minding if coming from UK US Australia or even other countries. I come from Italy and I would like to participate to a contest though I know I’m not the best sewer of the site. The thing is that having a contest is somethiong really inspiring and it gives you the stimule to take smething terrific out of your mind.

I know that the staff is really kind and faboulous and wont let all the non US member down by creating a magnificent contest for everyone!

      I agree…
I always put off taking pictures of my clothes since there is no real strong deadline or incentive!
if I had to put them on for a contest, I would get cracking!

Almeno, io la penso così…Ho mille foto da scattare e caricare :(

    Hi All,

Unfortunately, different divisions work in different countries. But do not worry, I PROMISE we will be having many more contest specifically for UK and Australian members. Look out for Stitches & Craft contests in Australia this year with Tessuti fabrics and some really awesome contests for UK residents.

It’s always amazing to have such wonderful companies such as BERNINA’s Sewing Republic support our community in inspiration and creativity! Good luck all!
