This collection has a little new wave style for heading to a concert or a fun night on the town. Oversized shapes, feminine dresses, and menswear details have a little something for everyone and can be paired with basics like white tanks and leggings. These patterns are from the September 2013 issue of Burda Style magazine.

Show off your body with a plunging neckline and a knotted waist tie. The Knotted Dress highlights your assets with its body conscious shape, but isn’t too sexy for everyday wear. Long sleeves and a knee length could go to the office, or you could take up the hem and have a foxy date dress!

Dress up your weekend look with a see through blouse in patterned chiffon. The Sheer Blouse looks tomboy sexy with paper bag shorts or leggings. Use a contrasting solid color for the collar and cuffs. Vintage buttons add extra glam to this style.

Slipdresses make great layering pieces for fall. The Cami Dress has spaghetti straps and little gathers at the front bust to highlight your chest. This slinky piece works well with big sweaters, skinny jeans, or layered with textured tights and a henley.

Slip the Bomber Jacket over your Cami Dress for a casual tomboy style. This medium weight jacket is great for early fall weather. Make this classic style in an offbeat pattern and throw it over jeans or a dress for a personalized look. You could even add a patch at the back!

Need something to pair with your high-waisted shorts? Try the Collarless Pleat Blouse. This top has a modern look that also pairs perfectly with your favorite statement necklace. Pleats at the center front and back give this blouse volume and movement that looks good with fitted bottoms. Give it some new wave style with a funky print and wear it to a concert.

For a retro menswear look, try on the Marlene Trousers. The swingy wide legs and masculine button detail at the waist gives you instant style. You can pair them with a simple tank and hat for a menswear vibe, or take a page from old Hollywood starlets with pumps and a blouse. Plus, the high waist flatters your figure.

Spend your weekend in the cozy Knit Star Sweater. This is an easy first intarsia project. The oversized shape and rolled neck are good for lounging.

The Star Dress makes a great outfit for casual dates like pizza and a movie. A big star makes a statement in this simple dress, and dolman sleeves and a boatneck are comfy. Make the star in sparkly fabric or a pattered satin for extra glam.

Get sporty chic with the slouchy Star Cardigan. This oversized open sweater with a leather star on the back has a varsity look that’s cute with jeans and a tee shirt.

Top off your look with the Knit Star Hat. Knit hats are awesome for covering up windblown hair in the fall, and this slouchy style is easy to pull off. Want to see a knitalong? Let us know!

This collection has a playful, lighthearted look that works just as well for high school and collegiate looks as it does for concerts or nights out. Throw the Star Cardi. over a baseball tee and jeans, or get dolled up in the Knot Dress or Sheer Blouse and sky high heels. We’d love to see your projects using these designs!

Happy Sewing!

Lots of super cute items to put on my must sew list in this lot (although the stylist looks like she spent too much time watching The Breakfast Club). Yes to the knotted dress, star shirt, bomber jacket, slip dress, cardigan and slip dress… Looking forward to this issue of Burda Mag!

Agreed about the suspect styling. This is kind of like seeing a beautiful home for sale, but it’s staged with tacky themed furniture. Thank god for the line drawings :)

I really like the bomber jacket, but it will not fit my plus size figure.
