This will be your new go-to pattern for little girl’s dresses. The A line silhouette is classic and easy to wear, and is also dressed up with a few little pleats that allow for movement. This little dress pattern also has short sleeves, but can also easily be adapted to be sleeveless for the warmer months. It is secured in the back with an invisible zipper and finished with a wide topstitched hem. Read on to learn more and how you can “Sproutify” this pattern to make for your little one…

This is one of two children’s patterns offered for BurdaStyle for Sprout, and this one is so adorable! I love the pleated front and the little sleeves. The first sample I sewed up was in this bright floral print and I used Cotton Lawn Ultra in a size 104. This little girl’s pattern is offered in sizes 104 to 128.

When you purchase this dress you’ll also get a video on how to pleat the front and use the provided template.

It’s the trickiest part of the dress, but really makes the dress!

This dress is closed at the back with an invisible zipper, I used one that was 9" long, it was shorter than the one indicated in the pattern but still worked out. I first pinned the zipper open right side down on the center back edges (already serge-finished).

I then stitched in place with an invisible zipper foot and pinned the other zipper tape to my un sewn center back edge.

To close the remaining center back seam, and to get it nice and flush with the end of the zipper, I switched to a piping foot to get nice and close.

Ta da! Finished center back zipper.

Then you install the neck facing, sew in the sleeves and finished the hem. Not to worry though, the sewing instructions that come with the pattern have diagrams of every step!

Here is my finished hem, I love the wide hem this pattern has.
