As I am learning to sew myself, I like to get together with a group of friends who want to learn too, and then we all create a simple item on one Saturday each month. Easy-sew skirts, tea cozies, and toddler trackpants are some of the things we’ve made. Sunday is the day for the finishing touches, hems and the like, and we all feel so accomplished come Monday! :D

Im fond of making my own comforter instead of buying one. I also made a quilt for my son when he was still in my tummy and also made a comforter as a gift to my daughter when she celebrated her 10th birthday. My favorite weekend sewing project right now is making pillowcases with matching fitted sheets.

My latest weekend sewing project was “produce bags” made out of netting. I made them to replace those annoying plastic sleeves that the grocery store’s supply in the produce section. I had enough netting that I made them in varing sizes and then sent a “set” to my mom, sister-in law, and mother-in law. Thanks for the opportunity! Darby darbyscloset at yahoo dot com

I have to say that my weekend projects are basically finishing up projects that never seem to get done! I have also been doing table runners like crazy! They are so fast to whip up and can completely change the look of your table.
