My favorite weekend projects are those that I can actually finish in one weekend. So mostly skirts, purses or home decorating items.

My 7 y/o daughter designs clothes and I (try to) construct it. My favorite was the t-shirt dress with tulle skirt she named, “The Black Magic.” Good way to spend time together.

My 16yr old daughter will be taking her first trip out of the country with school over spring break. To make her trip to Costa Rica extra special, my weekend projects I’ll be making for her are luggage tags, a shoe bag, dirty clothes bag, journal cover and travel document case, maybe in poppy’s her favorite at the moment! I’m a novice stitcher so hopefully everything will come out ok!

Easy clothes or decorative pieces. This weekend I made a dresser skirt for my dresser and cut out the pieces for a sleeveless nightgown. Trying to get ready for those warm nights.

I love to sew. I love to sew and give my creations as gifts. My reward is seeing my friends enjoy my creations that I have given them. I have an old Singer. The reverse doesn’t work anymore, but I just turn the material and keep on sewing. Thanks for inspiring me.

I’m working on making my own patterns on the weekend. It’s giving me a better perspective on selecting fabrics and making clothing that fits better.

I love scouring flea markets, antique fairs and thrift shops for vintage fabrics, linens and lace that I can incorporate into my weekend projects. I do everything from one of a kind clothing to one of a kind pillows that scream Viva Victoriana! One of my favorite things to do is to upcycle vintage slips which I dye first in yummy soft muted pastel colors then embellish with lace, pearls and ruffles!

I just purchased 2 vintage hassocks that I’m recovering in vintage upholstery fabric that is gorgeous!

For me I really love vintage irons expecially the sad irons that were heavy old cast iron. They are just the best for ironing vintage linen!

My next weekend project is to make valances for our family room. This will be followed by curtain projects for the the same room. I need a little help with the valance hanging so I have to wait until someone will be home on a weekend to lend me their strength.

Remaking a purse using lumier paints is a fun project and can take as little time or as much time as you like. Or a pair of shoes that you may think are beyond their life span can be refurbished to look new again.

I sometimes teach my friends to sew on the weekends, so the best projects are those that can be finished by a beginner (with a little help) within 2 hours. Aprons, zippered purses and small bags have made great weekend projects for me.
