I love keeping up with all the latest fashion trends and always look forward to Vogue’s trend reports and recaps. Their recent post on Vogue UK entitled The 12 Definitive Trends Of Spring/Summer 2019 was fascinating and inspired me to put together this post where I pair my favorite trends with BurdaStyle pattern so you can sew the look! Say what you will about the bike short trend, but I’m really into it. Read on to see how you can recreate the hottest spring 2019 looks from colorful suits to fringe trims in time for the season – because just how they say summer bikini bodies are made in the winter (I do hate that saying BTW), but spring garments are made in the winter too…

All Beige Everything Trend

Designers like Burberry, Balmain and Max Mara plastered beige all over the runway. Even if’s just a stylish trench coat or everything beige from head-to-toe, this trend can easily be integrated into any wardrobe.

California Dreaming Trend

From wetsuits to tie dye and everyday swimwear – this trend has me California dreaming. Lot’s of vibrant colors and prints with surfer-inspired silhouettes and looks embody this trend, and I’m all here for it. So break out the fabric dye and elastic bands to recreate this trend.

Change of Lace Trend

Lace seems like it’s constantly in style, but this way of looking at lace is in more boxy/masculine silhouettes and just for “ladies who lunch”. So if you’re planning on sewing a boxy tee or blouse for the warmer weather – try sewing it in lace!

All the Trimmings Trend

All the trimmings and more! This trend is all about that extra bit of adornment in the form of fringe, feathers, and everything in-between. So don’t be afraid to add that little extra something to some of your spring projects.

Get Into Print Trend

This coming season prints should be plastered all over the body! From head-to-toe to clashing colors, get into print and use up all your scrap fabric bits. Or next time you’re at the fabric store and see a print in two different color-ways, just buy them both to create an on-trend outfit.

Fruity Suiting Trend

Sick of boring old black and navy suits? Give your suit-look a colorful update by sewing one in tutti fruity colors like pink, orange, red, green, and even blue!

Bow Wow Trend

Put a bow on it! An oversized bow for that matter… This trend is about the drama that a big bow brings, and even if it isn’t huge, even a bow at all can elevate your next spring make.

On Your Bike Trend

Love it or hate it (I kinda love it)… Cycling shorts for fashion streetwear. Celebrities love this trend, and not the only ones who can pull this off. Take a fashion risk and try pairing some bike shorts with heels and a blazer for your next party look – hey, at least it will be comfortable!

Which trend(s) will you be embracing this upcoming spring/summer 2019?

Happy Sewing!

Are there ever patterns which come included in the magazines? Like, not an ad to direct towards purchase but an actual pattern you receive as a subscriber?

Hello Angela. I have bought the available online magazines of Burda Style, which are collecions for spring, summer, fall and winter of 2014 and 2015.They actually include many of the patterns they show in the magazines, and some others have the link as you say, to be purchased. Also, I have bought the monthly kits that Burda Style offers here in the website, and they include all the patterns that where in the corresponding magazine of that month and year. To find the kits you can go to the “How to” link in the main menu of this website. And then go to “kits”. To buy thr magazines, I have bought them at interweave.com but I think that you can also buy them here…
