This week’s patterns from bBurdaStyle magazine are inspired by the American ’50s. Form fitting garments and classic styles in gorgeous pastel colors with a modern take. Make yourself a high-waist pencil skirt with starburst pleats, a classic seersucker blouse, or a pair of leather shorts.

This blouse pattern is form fitting and features a button placket with hidden buttons and darts along the front and back for best fit.

This high-waist jersey skirt has pleats along the side that give a gorgeous starburst effect.

This blouse is quick and easy to sew with drawstring casings for the shoulders to add a gathered effect. The appliqué on the front is made from lovely broderie anglaise.

These shorts are just so cool. If you can’t find gorgeous leather like this, any other trouser fabric works great too.

This pleated skirt made in a beautiful lace is made with a zip fly closure and hip-yoke pockets.

This amazingly retro sewing pattern looks like a two-piece but is actually a dress. The bodice in our version is made from thin lamb nappa leather and the skirt from Natté fabric. These materials can naturally be substituted for any dress fabric with some body.

This gorgeous draft-it-yourself circle skirt is made from cotton poplin that has been commercially pleated, sunburst style.

Brightly colored, semi-fitted, short blouse with buttons up the back.

This shirt dress is perfect for summer days by the pool or on the beach. We made our version in a crushed poplin fabric.

We love this refreshing sporty dress in mint green. It features side zipper pockets and a lovely deep V neckline. The casual length and silhouette is easily flattering on any body! It would look great belted as well.

Fabric store here I come! There is not a single piece in this collection that I don’t want to make. The only problem will be deciding which garment to start first.
