This weekend was packed with red carpet style… see a few of our favorite looks! We’re picking the standout dresses from the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards and 66 Annual Emmy Awards red carpets.

The Emmys are one of the more laid back awards shows. Can you picture Kerry Washington’s neon orange dress at the Oscars? We’re loving this leopard print trimmed peekaboo Prada.

Natalie Dormer also opted for orange in this figure hugging J Mendel gown. A beautifully striking change from her sexy medieval wardrobe on Game of Thrones!

Meanwhile, Taylor Schilling swapped out Litchfield prison orange for a sparkly Zuhair Murad Couture gown. The Orange is the New Black star rocked the art deco crystal detail.

We love seeing stars on fantasy and period dramas outside of the costumes they wear on set. Michelle Dockery’s Rosie Assoulin red carpet pick is all modern, unlike her Downton Abbey character’s English country outfits.

January Jones went for high drama in a full skirted Prabal Gurung gown and red lips. A bold send-off for Mad Men’s last night at the Emmys.

We’re moving from the Emmys to the VMAs with Gwen Stefani, who looked gorgeous at both events. Atelier Versace always delivers red carpet sexiness, especially in this cage top and slinky maxi skirt.

For the playful, crazy Video Music Awards, Gwen traded the sparkle for a hot pink and black pantsuit. She wore her own L.A.M.B. line for her first VMA red carpet since 2005 and looked fabulous.

Kesha looked like every little girl’s fashion fantasy in a surprisingly understated studded gown with a simple V neckline, defined waist, and candy-colored hair.

The Jenner sisters rocked coordinating all black outfits. Kendall Jenner showed off her long legs with high waisted pants, and Kylie Jenner flaunted hers with a hip high slight. Kendall and Kylie are ready to take over as the family style icons!

On a red carpet full of crop tops and mini dresses, Iggy Azalea flaunted her curves in a floor length strapless gown. There’s so much sparkle we almost didn’t notice the cutouts. Total bombshell glamour.

What were your favorite picks from the red carpet? Do you love the crazy VMAs or the laid back glamour of the Emmys? Tell us in the comments!

Michelle Dockery’s Rosie Assoulin is gorgeous. I saw it earlier on Pinterest & looked up the designer’s other things, which are just as fascinating.

When I saw photos of the outfits on another website, I noticed one large-figured actress had a red gown that was hemmed to end just about her shoe tops. I believe her dress is one she owns because there was none of the hem pooling so obvious with many other actresses long dresses! If the hem puddles over footwear & high heels, my guess is that the dress is a borrowed one.

Will give credit to the dress worn by Kerry Washington-great colour and details-not boring at all.

Michelle Dockery’s dress details-the colours are too pale for her. Had they been more jewel-tone in colour, then the dress would escape possible handkerchief jokes in line with Downton Abbey dialogue. “Maman, where is my dress?” “Dear, i think I found it. I had Anna put away what I thought was a stack of handkerchieves…”
