Start planning your dream getaway with this sunny new collection. You’ll want to hit the boardwalk in a linen suit, floaty dresses, and bold summer jumpsuit. These designs are from the April 2014 issue of Burda Style magazine.

This High Waisted Mini Skirt combines all our favorite design elements. A slimming high waist, fun printed fabric, and details like vertical seam lines and hidden pockets. Wear it with a blouse to the office and a strappy tank for the boardwalk.

No one will know this cute Smock Dress was a quick and easy project. The round neckline with slit and gathered shoulders are nicely feminine. The shirred waist makes it a breeze to fit your body!

A metallic Linen Blazer has just the right mix of casual and glam for summer parties. This little blazer is casual enough for jeans but looks polished with lightweight trousers. Make a summer suit with the Pleated Linen Pants.

Throw this folky vest over your sundresses and chambrays for a boho touch. It’s the perfect pattern to use up remnants of your favorite printed fabric and leather trim for the piping.

A breezy summer dress can still have plenty of detail. Pintucks at the front and back, a buttoned placket, and long waist tie make this halter dress absolutely stunning. You could even make it in white for a casual beach wedding dress!

Dress up summery linen pants with a pleated hip yoke that gives structure to our favorite lightweight fabric. Get some texture contrast with a silky blouse or tank.

Jumpsuits are perfect for vacation dressing… you don’t have to worry about matching tops and bottoms, just slip into one eye-catching piece! The Pleated Jumpsuit is dressed up for dinner and dancing with suit-like lapels.

A slightly fitted Long Summer Coat with lengthwise seams and four patch pockets pulls together your summer outfits. Make it beach ready with a summery jacquard print.

You won’t find a top like this in the island gift shop. A cool criss cross neckline creates a shawl collar with plenty of visual interest. It’s a fun challenge to sew!

Even if you’re only traveling as far as the back patio, these designs will put you in a festive summer mood. Pour a glass of sangria and get sewing!

I love the fabric of the smock dress (scarf print). Is it available from Mood Fabric?

I have a feeling that I’d be more tempted to sew from this collection if it hadn’t looked so ‘nineties,’ at first. Then I realized that it’s not the designs but the model herself who sports shoulders like an NFL fullback. It looks at first like the jacket has extended shoulders and even shoulder pads giving a 90’s feel to the trouser ensemble, but the line drawing reassured me.

Looking more closely, she’s busting out of all the sleeve seams, etc.,

I got excited about that one too! They’re almost like tuxedo lapels and then halfway down… BAM, notched lapel! OMG, I need more friends who will geek out over lapels.
