These frocks, gowns, and blouses cover the summer party circuit, from office lunches to formal garden parties and late night dance parties. Start a festive season with bright satins and metallics! These designs are from the July 2014 issue of Burda Style magazine.

An ultra mini length makes this straight cut Shift Dress with 3/4 sleeves eye catching. Draw even more attention with an embellished fabric like embroidered chiffon. The simple cut makes picking a fabric easy!

Stand out from the crowd in a technicolor Satin Bomber Jacket. This colorblocked design can be made sporty or glam… try it in your team colors or in gold satin for a luxe touch.

Narrow pleats flare out from a wide hip yoke for a dramatic wrap Skirt. Use a synthetic fabric so that your pleats last as long as possible. This sophisticated skirt is well worth effort!

The Lace Halter Dress plays with feminine cuts. The halter dips down to the waist seam but still has coverage underneath. This flirty dress has an apron style for a fun garden party look.

Softly draping florals are even more romantic in this cutaway Split Sleeve Blouse. Pair this alluring top with the Flared Shorts. A mid rise waist, flared leg, and pockets makes them cute and slimming.

The Scarf Collar Top is stunning for a night out. This lamé jersey top has a V neckline framed by a long scarf that drapes all the way down to the hem. Tuck it in and let the scarf hang free.

The Tie Front Skirt is gathered along the center front. You can cinch it to your liking and tie it at the waist for a customized fit. It’s a twist on basic jersey skirts that’s a little flirty.

Spend the summer day dreaming in this Tiered Off the Shoulder Maxi Dress with tiers of ruffles and spaghetti straps holding up the off the shoulder design. It’s sweet and flirty with boho seventies appeal.

Swaths of satin move beautifully in this floor length Godet Gown. A generous godet acts like a train, and the sleeves split open for a fluttery effect. It’s a sophisticated piece for a formal evening in a saturated jewel tone.

Turn any event into a party with this bombshell Sweetheart Party Dress. A fitted corset style bodice has a pretty sweetheart neckline to frame your face. The bodice fits into a full gathered skirt with hip pockets.

Summer is the season for weddings, picnics, company barbecues, birthday parties, you name it! This collection has you covered, whether you need a full on party dress or a romantic maxi.

Happy sewing!

I knew it! That is Cape Town! I thought I was going mad, getting a Cape Town vibe from the photos, but Fresnaye Ave. sealed the deal. Good to know I might bump into a BurdaStyle photo-shoot one day (and give them a few tips on styling…)

I love that a bunch of the photo shoots have been in CT lately. Would be awesome to run into one!

At first glance I didn’t like the bommer jacket – but the more I look at it the more I like it! I think with the right colour scheme and the pockets missing, I think it would look alright.

This collection is a very funny mix of the not bad for example the Godet Gown and the Good God What Were They Thinking with the Satin Bomber Jacket which is truly fugly. Added into this muddle are the day time looks some of which are very nice like the scarf collar top and others of which only my blind Grandma would wear for example the Tie Front Skirt is modeled with a horrible shirt with a bit of lace on the sleeve which looks like it came out of the bin. Really where are we going with this and what’s cohesive about it that you would describe it as a collection.
