My friend Elyse went to the Sex and The City 2 movie premiere this Monday in a dress I created for her with BurdaStyle and WOW she looked hot!

I designed Elyse’s dress off of the BurdaStyle Jenny Dress Pattern which was the perfect template for what Elyse wanted: A low V in the front, an empire waist, and soft cap sleeves. The fabric is one of my all time favorites: luxurious pearly-white hammered silk, the skirt cut on the bias for the va-va-voom effect, and it’s lined in white silk de Chine. For this dramatic transformation, the following changes were done to the pattern:

-Removed the front & back skirt darts and cut the skirts on the bias for comfort and slight stretch, as Elyse wanted some room around the waist to flatter her post baby tummy.

-Eliminated the buttons in the back of the dress and just used an invisible zipper up to the V.

-Lengthened the skirt to be mid-calf length. I love the “Old Hollywood” vibe this created!

Here’s what Elyse said about the evening: We walked the “blue” carpet and saw lots of celebs @ Radio City, and watched the movie. It was really stunning- they go to the Middle East and the set design is outrageous. After the premiere, we went to the after party which was held in a tent at Lincoln Center. We walked down a long, red Middle-Eastern carpet complete with Moroccan-style lanterns to the entrance of the party, where they served hummus and couscous. We danced and drank SATC-themed cosmos. A total blast!!

Thanks for taking those great photos Elyse!
