Set sail in preppy summer classics like pleated shorts, a 1920s inspired dress, button up tops, and a girl’s Breton striped shirt. These pieces have great style for an afternoon of sailing or kite flying, or maybe a dressed up picnic lunch. These patterns are from the May 2014 issue of BurdaStyle magazine.

A cute little Breton Shirt with all the classic French style is just right for little girls with the added embellishment and bows at the back. Flounce and twirl in this super Ruffled Skirt. It’s a casual look with a sash plenty of detail for girly girls.

Sailor style meets the 1920s with a Drop Waist Dress for little girls. It has a removable bib neckline and cuffs for dressier occasions. So sweet with white Mary Janes!

The Short Sleeved Shirt is a classic preppy style for little boys. Fun prints like bicycles, boats, or birds add extra nautical style. Pair it with boat shoes and the Boy’s Shorts. White looks clean and dressy, try khaki for a casual look.

A fun party dress in rich velvet with a removable Peter Pan collar. This is a festive style for little girls of all ages! Make a matching hair bow for extra charm.

Gingham is the quintessential fabric for sweet summer outfits. A pair of shorts with rolled cuffs and pockets are charming for warm weather play dates or dressed up with the Long Sleeved Button Up Shirt. This shirt is also a great pick for school uniforms.

Boho may be all the rage for adult styles, but preppy styles are still fun for kids! This collection goes with all your favorite summer activities, from a day at the zoo to a formal afternoon party. Bring out the toy sailboats and lemonade!

Happy sewing!

I would love it if these patterns came in sizes in the 150s. The styles would be great for a 10 or 12 year old.
