It’s time to reveal my finished May Mash Up which is this fabulous flowery summer set made from a dress pattern! So thrilled with out it turned out and can’t wait to mix and match these piece into my summer wardrobe. Read on to see more images as well as what I’m sewing for my next Mash Up…

Mash Up Reveal PATTERN

Again I used the Dress with Side Slits pattern to sew up this flowery summer set. The sleeve style really sold me on this design, and knowing myself throughout the summer I’m more likely to mix and match this top style with multiple bottoms instead of wearing a dress multiple times.

So I transformed this dress into two pieces that I can mix and match!

May Mash Up Reveal POSE 1

I went a size up from what I usually sew so I could pull the top over my head and slide the skirt over my hips without any zippers. So here I’m wearing a size 40 for both the top and skirt.

May Mash Up Reveal POSE 2

For me my shoulders really get burned during the summer months, so I always love a sleeve style that is both breezy and covers my upper arms and shoulders – this one is perfect.

May Mash Up Reveal POSE 3

The skirt fabric though is the really shining star of this set. Now that I’m back home, I’m wishing that I bought some more of this fabric to sew up some more garments in it. I have a little piece left that I think I’ll use for the front of a summer top. To see more images of my set, view my project here.

Now how this set works into my capsule collection / wardrobe throughout the year… I’m actually going to count the top as my “T-shirt” garment and for my next Mash Up I’m sewing the button up skirt in the issue. I have always wanted a skirt that length and that buttons up. The pattern will go live June 1st!

May Mash Up Reveal PLAN

Can’t believe we are halfway through the year with my 6th Mash Up next month. For my skirt I think I’m going to use the yellow twill that I have to remake my trench coat in as well.

Happy Sewing!
