Too many ideas, not enough time… One of the more pressing ideas is to make a bag for my mum’s electric mobility scooter. After poring over pattern books I haven’t found one that fits the right shape/size so I will be adapting as I go, maybe a little daunting for a new sewing addict. Mobility scooters are becoming commonplace but nobody seems to have designed something for the standard baskets just yet. I will also be making fairy skirts and pyjamas for my nearly-four-year-old, who will inevitably tell me “I think that needs more sparkles.” I have learned that for this little girl, there can never be enough sparkles.

Would love to sew another reversible aprons (gonna send them for my host mothers in Japan. They love aprons), tunics for daily muslim wear, and definitely the white coat featured here (http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/the-burdastyle-sewing-handbook-our-coat) It’s classic. Would love to have one for my own collection. And I think some more sewing projects from the book can be adapted. ;)

I know that I am going to make a diaper bag for one of my daughters-in-law and possibly a dress to wear to a family wedding. I have a granddaughter who will be a year old in May and I think sewing for her will be lovely. I want to work on hats. But, my most ambitious project is to learn patternmaking to create professional clothing for my daughter in law. I want to use ducttape to create a dressform to match her non-standard proportions, and then make patterns that will fit properly.

fyi, my alternative name is ‘not-quite-finished’. So my projects for the new year are to complete all the sweet ones I haven’t finished from this year! (I must be really disciplined about this and not buy any more fabric) THEN…to jump into all the fabulous patterns I ordered for Christmas. There are coats and jackets, quilts, little girl dresses, and a comfy pajama set. I am looking forward to a SEWING NEW YEAR.

I plan to go through my Burda World of Fashion patterns, culled from past issues, and actually make some of them! I always find them inspiring to look at and to dream about wearing, but keep putting it off, because I know it will take me awhile to trace, etc. TIME TO MAKE TIME!

Been cutting out leader-patches, slapping holes in the edges and crocheting them together for a few months now (taking not-so-occasional breaks) to make a tapestry for my living-room. I should really finish it sometime soon, so I can attend to the scraps. Cut them into nice embellishments to sew on the (many) dresses, coat and jumpsuit I’ve been planning to make.

I have some thick red fleece waiting to be made into a jacket. And some slinky jersey waiting to be made into a drape front top. I had so much fun making Christmas stockings out of recycled sweaters that I want to make more and decide what else to make out of my recycled wool stock. I also want to play around with sewing on leather and have some leather skirts ready to be disassembled and made into something else.
