I’ve had a few friends try my sewing machine and then go out and buy the same one! I’ve even been at craft shows and have inspired people to go out and start sewing (and bought the same machine as me). And they’re still creating.

Yes! My best friend had used her sewing machine only for making curtains until I got into sewing and she lent it to me. When I got my own and she got hers back, she loved that I was sewing garments so much that she started to sew her own clothes, too!

I teach sewing in Denver, CO at a small indie craft boutique called Fancy Tiger Crafts. Of all the classes I teach, 101 is my favorite. I get to inspire new sewers every week! I also have two daughters that I have inspired as well. I try to inspire them to just be creative and if sewing is a way to express it, great!

I inspired my 3 daughter to sew. I have been sewing for them since birth. Well they were always interested in the sewing machine. Each one received a sewing machine from their dad and I for their 18 birthday. Now all of them make most of their own clothes. My oldest daughter just got marriage last May and made her own wedding dress and designed it herself.

I recently bought a used upgraded sewing machine and gave my basic sewing machine to a homeless shelter for women’s and their children. (I had it cleaned and serviced before I took it.) I volunteer teaching sewing so that it will be easy for the ladies there to make curtains and other items once they are able to get into homes of their own.

I’m working on my goddaughters—teens who are TALL. We’ve learned to sew buttons, and fix a hem. Hopefully they see sewing as a way to make things that fit exactly as they’d like!

Mmmm, my 2 sons. The younger, now 30, has especially kept up his interest, making his own laptop, mobi, washing etc bags, aprons, tea towels and, well, just whatever, often combined with his own hand printed fabric. The elder son’s daughter is my latest convert. She is 2 : ) I’ve also encouraged a friends young daughters, the elder one, now 13, is taking sewing at High School and loves to show me her progress.

Yes, My daughters-Estella and Cassandra! Estella is 6, and for a homework assignment, we had to decorate a stocking. We took it one step further. We put together a fabric one with felt trees, hearts, and she helped sew it. She got a sewing machine for christmas, and my other daughter, Cassandra, got some of the felt, prepunched sewing kits. She is only 3, but she is excited too. Estella started sewing by hand first, and now it is Cassie’s turn.
