Hi! I sew mainly for family and friends – I like to give people homemade gifts, I get double the pleasure that way. I also sew commissions which I find really exciting as they are usually garments that challenge me. I had the great pleasure of visiting M&J Trimmings back in 2006 – I was on holiday ( I am from England) I stumbled upon the shop, unfortunately it was the day I was going back to England and I had spent all my money. I thought I had died and gone to sewing heaven! Unfortunately, sewing shopping was not on the agenda (first time to the US so I HAD to do the NY tourist spots!) so I had not done any research on sewing related places to spend my money! Next time I go over to NY it will be sewing shopping focussed and M&J Trimmings will be getting plenty of my hard earned dollars! qugirl

I generally sew & knit for myself. Made loads of presents for friends and family at Christmas though! The satisfaction you get from giving someone a handmade present is immeasurable.

I started out sewing just for my new granddaughter and then it expanded into sewing baby sets for the many friends and co-workers who were having babies. So I started my own home business and have sewn for many many people. I also do crochet for my family and friends. Basically if someone asks me to make something I will do everything I can to make what they have asked for. I just love to sew!!!!!

I sew for customers, family and friends, in that order. I wish I could sew more for myself, but maybe this basket would inspire something for me!!

I mainly sew for customers and for gifts — but desperately need to set time aside to sew for myself! Then again, I think everyone who crafts should take time to create things of beauty just for themselves as well.

I use the people around my like guinea pigs to test my new ideas on, playing ‘dress up dolly’ with anyone who’ll let me. I dont think they mind much :p I much prefer the designing process to the manufacturing process I have to do with customers. In the end though, it’s all for myself. I wouldnt be doing it unless I loved it.
