This new pattern collection from burda style magazine’s October issue celebrates femininity. Fitted, Fifties-style cuts are sewn out of precious fabrics in pastels and metallics that add a touch of romance. Whether it’s cocktail or office hour, you’ll feel fab in all of these new patterns.

Let your thoughts wander in this nostalgic cloqué Dress with fitted bodice and full, gathered skirt.

Lurex makes this knit Rouched Top precious, while gathers along the front and sleeve seams give it that special something. Even beginners can sew this great top! We love it paired with this sweet Bow Skirt that makes any outfit have that retro-silhouette. It is full bodied, calf length, and finished off with decorative little bows.

A large covered button and eye-catching fabric are reminiscent of the 50s. Despite all its nostalgic appeal, this Flared Coat is still a very modern fashion statement.

Even leather presents its feminine side in this pastel pink Leather Jacket . The small standing collar is a sweet detail. This jacket makes a wonderful topper that can be worn over a T-shirt and skirt.

Hats off to this Dress with raised waistline and front and back V-necklines. The style, with its calf-length skirt and reversed pleats at waist seam, pays homage to the feminine form.

This short Swing Jacket , with button, is truly a classic. A deep reversed pleat on the back adds swing to the hemline. We love it worn with this full, over the knee Skirt makes any body look and feel fabulous! A layer of dotted tulle adds a playful touch.

This knee-covering Dress with 3/4 length sleeves makes a successful appearance, and not only at happy hour. Reversed pleats open at the waist to release the fullness of the skirt. Wear it to feel well dressed for the day and into the evening!

A large draped collar, fluffy fabric, concealed snap fasteners, and the flattering hip length make this Mohair Coat the perfect pairing to any outfit.

These retro designs will make your silhouette look like a hourglass with their fit and flare shapes. Make one or all these patterns and incorporate them into your fall wardrobe! They will even still be in style for next spring.

Happy Sewing!

Well okay, but it’s quite a stretch to claim that most of these are “fifties” patterns.

This collection is beautiful. I’d love to see more men’s styles, though. Great work here. Can’t wait to get started!

What a beautiful collection! I’ve been looking for a good wintercoat pattern; this might be just the one. Will have to find a way of keeping it closed in windy Wellington!

It looks like you can just add buttons down the middle, no?

I love this collection I would actually wear every single one of these! Love the pleated dress with v-neck line (not too deep, just right for me) in the peachy and cream circles!

I bought the magazine for this dress — I’m kind of waiting for someone to make it so I can see how raised the waistline really is. (Also I’m just waiting because I’m lazy.)

I love the reverse pleated dress! I have been looking for a pattern for this style forever.

And the calf length dress with the v- neckline is cute, but i think I may cut it off and make it into a blouse. Sort of a late 30s style with a little peplum. The tucks remind me of Colette’s Sencha blouse, which I like a lot, so this might be a fun variation on that vintage look. Hmmmmm, time to dig through my stash!

The short swing jacket with the single button is very nice and reminiscent of one Jackie Kennedy wore.

All in all, some definite possibilities!

I like all the ‘knee covering’ styles, but that pink jacket is completely invisible in the photo….

I really like the fuzzy mohair coat and the raised waist dress. They have a cool retro vibe that doesn’t look dated, they look classic.
