I always enjoy watching the Emmy Awards because I watch far more TV than movies, so I’m able to recognize more of the celebrities on the carpet.

Pale Pink

The first trend is all about pale pink! I personally can’t pull off this color well with my red hair, but I absolutely love it for these gowns. Reminds me of our popular Flounce Dress sewn in pale pink, which can totally be incorporated into fall with brown complimentary pieces.

Iridescent fabrics were also spotted, and I was into it! There is always something special about wearing a material that glimmers in the light, much like our Mini Cape Dress sewn in an iridescent green fabric.

Tea Length

Next up were tea-length styles which is such a pretty silhouette of dress and especially shows off the shoes! Try making one for yourself this season (this length works with tights and boots as well) using our Calf Length Dress.

I find you always expect to see some sheers on the red carpet, and these ones sure didn’t disappoint. I always love a good sheer overlay, or illusion neckline, and one of my favorite patterns to use is our Organza Overdress.

Last but certainly not least was all the velvet dresses seen! Velvet is the fabric of the fall, and although a little tricky to work with it always looks fabulous. To get a bundle of 4 velvet patterns paired with velvet sewing tips, download our velvet eBook here!
