Light up the night in velvet and metallic skirts, dresses, and tops. These designs are from the August 2014 issue of Burda Style magazine.

Embrace the cutout trend in this easy shift dress with a cool triangle cutout motif at the neckline.

Fabric remnants never looked so alluring. This Mixed Material Sheer Top sheer and jersey fabrics for a one-of-a-kind look. Sheer fabrics on the sleeves are subtly sexy.

Accentuate an A line silhouette with a godet at the hem. This Short Skirt has lots of movement for dancing.

This Long Sleeve Wrap Dress is so flattering and accented with tucks around the V neckline. Wear it as a figure hugging party dress in bright gold for a disco effect.

Layered chiffon in a mini length makes a fun party dress. This one is ready for any occasion with a scoop neck, pintucked front, and hidden pockets.

Wide sleeves give this Ruched Kimono Top its distinctive baggy shape. The slit neckline and ruching on one hip add some visual interest, but this top is clean lined and modest.

Dress up this casual Long Sleeve Jersey Top in metallic stretch jersey. It has a tuck on one side for a mock scarf effect.

Metallic velvet has gorgeous volume and slims your legs. This Pleated Mini Skirt has pleats and a waistband to give the luxe fabric shape and structure.

Travel in style in a hip length Wool Cape with crisp lapels and crystal embellishment. This glam alternative to a coat has a romantic English look.

Dance the night away in this Ruffled Pencil Skirt with a flamenco inspired detail at the leg. The oversized flounce calls attention to the flirty leg slit.

_122 and 125

Embrace the 90s revival trend with this pleated Leopard Print Mini Skirt with a zip and waistband. Top it off with a girly Cropped Blazer that hits at the waist with a wide V neckline and contrasting jacquard collar.

Fabric makes all the difference in these designs. Choose more casual fabrics for every day, or make them as pictured in gorgeous metallics for nighttime looks that shine!

Happy sewing!

Am loving this collection! While I’m not generally into metallic fabrics, the patterns would look great in more ‘modest’ fabric choices as well I’m sure!
