Meg's Magazine Mash Up 06/2018: Part 2

This week I sew up the bottom portion of my bodysuit and then attach it to my knotted top as well as set in the sleeves. I’m loving how this bodysuit is turning out and I can’t wait to wear it all summer long! Also at the end of my post I have a special announcement…

Meg's Magazine Mash Up 06/2018: Part 1

Sorry for the delayed start to my June Mash Up, I was super busy prepping for our next sew-along which I’m filming soon – and make sure to register for our current one here before July 4th to get in for free! Last month was a jumpsuit, and this month is a bodysuit. Just can’t seem to escape these one piece wonders that BurdaStyle are releasing. As soon as I saw this bodysuit I knew it had to be my Mash Up, and this week I get it all started and finish the front knot…

My jumpsuit is complete! This week I finished it up by sewing and adding on the hem bands from my contrasting printed fabric. I’m totally obsessed with this jumpsuit and want to wear it to every special occasion this summer. I also secured the back straps by sewing them to the lining to avoid any topstitching. This week I worked on the pants portion of my jumpsuit and then sew it all together with the invisible zipper! I love how this jumpsuit is coming together and I also go over hand stitching the bodice lining in place. Who else is sewing this jumpsuit pattern from the 05/2018 issue?

My jumpsuit is coming along so well, and I’m so happy I went with the corset jumpsuit pattern for my Mash Up! This week I finish up the corseted bodice of my jumpsuit including the back, side seam boning, lining, and straps.

It took me a while to decide which pattern from the May issue I wanted to sew for my Mash Up since I literally loved so many patterns in the issue – I mean, all those dresses are just amazing. But since I already have a new fabulous dress from my last Mash Up I ended up going with the jumpsuit pattern. Read on to see my first steps in sewing this corseted jumpsuit…

This week I complete the finishing touches to my Ruffle Dress including the hems and neckline bias. I also threw on the final dress for some photos and I’m so thrilled how it turned out – I will admit after last week’s serger mishap I was so close to giving in scraping the dress for a whole new one. I’m so glad I “made it work” because I find the dress quite sweet and fun to wear – high tea here I come!

This week I pleat, gather, and attach the skirt to my bodice and while doing so I had an accident and created a hole right in the middle of my garment! Not to worry, I found a perfect solution and I’m so close now to finishing my ruffle dress.

It was really hard to decide on a pattern to Mash Up from the 04/2018 issue since there were so many great patterns – and we also just launched our April 2018 Lookbook so you can shop ALL the patterns from the latest issue. After flipping through the magazine going back and fourth between possible Mash Up patterns, I went with our Ruffled Collared Dress since I already had the perfect fabric, and it is petite sized! This month’s Mash Up I decided to sew up two garments instead of one – a “cardigan” and a pencil skirt to make a chic faux suede & fur outfit. I love the end result and how the fabrics look together, just need a swanky occasion to wear this to. Read on to see more images and a member variation!

Last week I so busy travelling and filming a new sew-along that I didn’t have time to post my Mash Up update! But today i’m back with how I sewed the skirt portion of my March Mash Up look together including altering the length and adding in an exposed zipper. I also do a last neckline alteration to the cape cardigan before I photograph the entire look.

I can’t believe it is almost the middle of March already, and this brings me to part 2 of my 03/2018 issue Mash Up which is coming along great. Last week I started sewing up our Open Cardigan using faux suede and fur, and also decided to make a matching skirt! Read on to see my next steps in sewing this cardigan…

Meg's Magazine Mash Up 03/2018: Part 1

My February Mash Up was such a success, and I’m so excited to jump into my March Mash Up! It took me a while to flip through the 03/2018 issue and determine what I wanted to make, and I narrowed down three patterns from this issue that I wanted to sew in our Burda Challenge February Round Up post here, but last minute I had a change of heart on which pattern I planned for my Mash Up.

Since February is the shortest month of the year, I get to debut my finished Mash Up project even sooner! Now that I look at my finished dress, it almost doubles as a light coat – and I love it. The contrast between the off white twill to the faux leather is perfection and I wish I had more places to go to wear this outfit.
