When I was last in Denver Colorado, I had the chance to attend Denver Fashion Week with Ellen March from Sew News! We went on day 5 – which was the unconventional models nights and when the local Denver fashion designers showed their Spring 2018 collections. Read on to see some of my favorite looks!

If you don’t already know, when I film all the sewing videos for my courses and sew-alongs on BurdaStyle Academy, I travel to Colorado where the sewing film studio is. It is also great because I get to spend face-to-face time with all the wonderful ladies from Sew News Magazine. So in late march I spend a week there filming a couple of brand new sew-alongs that will be launching throughout the year.

After my last day of filming on set, Ellen March and I headed over to Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum (which was a really cool place for a fashion show) to attend the evening’s festivities and show.

Before the show started, there was a reception with local restaurants handing out free samples of their menu items and lot’s of “selfie stations”. So we stuffed our faces and people watched until it was time to move over to the runway room.

My favorite collection of the night was by local Denver designer Steve Sells. His fabric selection was on point and I loved the prints on the black chiffon – it walked so well down the runway.

Also the use of horse hair around these sleeve hems was really interesting, and I loved the shape it created.

The other collection that my edgy-side liked was from designer Tyne Hall who didn’t study fashion design.

I liked the stying and really was drawn to this lace corset with long train!

Lastly, some of the makeup/beauty looks for these models were cool and I liked the beauty shot of this look from designer Toppings Design.

I enjoy reading posts indicating what trends or designs or looks caught your eye! Also it is fun to learn what things in fashion are happening outside of the usual major capital cities.
